Under 19 Round 10 and Cup Quarter Final - June 20, 2010

Under 19's Round 10

Despite being bottom of the table Cobras gave us a tough match and made us fight hard to register a 2 -1 win.

We started in a positive manner with some good passing interchanges but unfortunately went behind after 25 minutes to a goal against the run of play.

Coming out for the second half the boys had a renewed sense of urgency and we managed to get back on level terms with another great goal from Matt Charalambous after some good work from Ryan Budd.

Unfortunately `Buddy' was relieved of his match duties by the referee shortly after that and we were forced to go on with 10 men.

The boys responded well and `Chara' continued his goal scoring form by getting the winner.

Cup Quarter Final

On the holiday Monday we took on Blue Eagles in the cup at Santos stadium.

The game proved to be a tight affair with Blue Eagles controlling much of the play in the first half but not really threatening our goal too much due to some strong defending. Blue Eagles looked like they could be dangerous at set plays but again we defended well and despite a few opportunities for us towards the end of the half we went into the break with no goals to either team.

The second half started much the same as the first half but we managed to keep our goal intact with a controlled Ryan Burgess saving us on the goal line, `Burgo' even had the time and composure to have a good first touch before clearing the ball!

The game swung our way when Chris Dry (returning from injury) gained a free kick just outside the box and Josh Harvey stepped up to blast it under/through the wall before beating the keeper with a slight deflection. This encouraged the boys and we stepped up our defensive efforts to keep out the Blue Eagles to post a tough, hard-earned win to progress to the semis.

Well done boys!
