Under 19's Rounds 12 & 13 Match Reports - July 9, 2010
Round 12 produced a good result for the 19's at home against Campbelltown with a 2 -1 win.
Campbelltown opened strongly and probably had the better of the early exchanges but after 20 minutes we were 2 - 0 to the good and it looked like being our day.
A great strike by Burgo and a polished left foot finish by Jack Schoen from a corner stunned Campbelltown. However, they responded strongly and after getting a goal back it was game on.
In the second half we knuckled down to maintaining a strong structure in the midfield and this nullified their attacking efforts and enabled us to secure a valuable three points. Round 13 away to Western Strikers and we were keen to avenge our loss at home from the first round.
Western Strikers are a disciplined, hard working team and despite our efforts to play the ball around to open up spaces we found it difficult to break down their tall back line and hard working midfield.
While we created a few half chances a disappointing 0 - 0 draw resulted.
Looking forward to taking on ladder leaders Metro Stars this week and the boys will be fired up to get a good result.
